The Federal Road Safety Corps Road has condemned unprovoked attacks on its officers, saying such actions would no longer be tolerated.
The Commandant, FRSC Road Marshal Assistants School, Shendam, Plateau State, Yakubu Mohammad, stated this on Friday during the closing of a one-week training programme for Marshal Assistants.
He said that the corps would no longer tolerate unprovoked knockdown of its marshals while carrying out their duty on patrol.
Mohammad said , “Motorists should obey traffic rules and cooperate with the road marshals to prevent unprovoked knockdown involving the operatives during patrol or rescue operations as this will no longer be tolerated by the corps.”
The commandant charged the 415 Marshal Assistants to become change agents in their respective commands.
He encouraged the road marshal assistants to utilise the knowledge gained during the training to act as good ambassadors of the Corps.
The one-week training was designed to equip the Road Marshal Assistants with the necessary skills and professionalism for their duties.
The commandant expressed confidence that the course had provided the participants with valuable knowledge on rescue operations, enforcement, use of technology, discipline, integrity, inter-agency collaboration, and civility towards members of the public.
Earlier, the Corps Marshal, Sheu Mohammed, said that the corps needed continuous training and retraining of personnel to align with realistic expectations
He added that the training has equipped the Road Marshal Assistants to improve their skills and professionalism in their duties
The 415 Road Marshal Assistants were drawn from across the Corps to
prove the commitment to their duties with the specific focus of the course themed “Repositioning FRSC for Enhanced Service Delivery in Patrol and Rescue Operations.”
The one-week course which began on August 25 ended on Friday, August, 30, 2024.
