Bauchi police arrest armed robbery suspect for attacking private home

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have disclosed the arrest of one Usama Mohammed, a 20-year-old from Jalo village in Giade, by its Giade Divisional Police headquarters detectives.

As stated in a press release issued to journalists by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, on Sunday, the suspect was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, trespass, and armed robbery.

Wakil explained that “The arrest came after a distress call from a victim on August 2, 2024, who reported a home invasion by four armed robbers carrying knives and cutlasses around 9:40 pm. The robbers stole an Itel A70 mobile phone valued at N75,000 and a Huawei phone valued at N30,000.”

The PPRO added that upon receiving the call, “a team of detectives led by DPO Giade rushed to the scene and arrested Usama Mohammed while the other members of his gang remain at large.

“Intensive efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.”

Ahmed Wakil further hinted that in line with the constitutional duties of the police to safeguard lives and property, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet investigation.
