President Bola Tinubu has appointed Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, pending Senate confirmation.
Mr. Bello, a renowned journalist, previously served as the Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers, beginning in 2001. He is also a recipient of the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship.
Bello’s career in journalism started at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he held key editorial positions, including Group Political Editor and Editor of National Concord.
In addition to his journalism career, Bello is a lawyer and administrator. He also served as Secretary to the Lagos State Government and as Commissioner for Environment under various administrations.
President Tinubu expects Mr. Bello to lead the FCCPC in fulfilling its mandate of protecting Nigerian consumers and ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services.
