Armed robbers invade Delta varsity

On Thursday, a group of suspected armed robbers attempted to invade Western Delta University, Oghara, in Delta State, Nigeria.

The intruders entered the campus through an open perimeter at the rear of the university, reportedly targeting students.

However, their plans were thwarted when students sensed danger and quickly alerted security personnel.

The timely response from law enforcement agents prevented any serious disruption to the university’s operations and ensured that no one was harmed.

According to reports, the robbers fled the scene in different directions upon spotting the security personnel.

In a statement confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, said that the suspects entered the campus through a broken fence at the back of the school.

A student leader in the university, Simeon Okpoko, expressed concerns about the ongoing security challenges facing educational institutions and emphasized the importance of increased vigilance to protect students and staff.

In response to the incident, the university management has announced plans to implement additional security measures to prevent future incidents and ensure the safety of its community.
