Otti pays fees of Abia students abandoned in Indian University

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the payment of fees for Abia students studying in an Indian university, SRI SAI, who were allegedly abandoned by the previous administration.

The students’ plight was a major concern for the new government, and the Governor has taken swift action to address it.

In related news, Otti has also replaced his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kazie Uko, with Mr. Ukoha Njoku. According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the change is part of the Governor’s plan to restructure his media team.

Kanu disclosed that the Governor has also approved the payment of bursary to Abia students in various law schools in Nigeria and has secured accreditation for 19 courses at Abia State University, Uturu.

Furthermore, Otti has approved the establishment of a football academy by an Abia-born UK-based footballer, Mr. Frank Onyeka, who plays for the Super Eagles and Brentford FC in the English Premier League. The project is expected to be situated between Umuahia and Aba for easy accessibility.

Kanu stated that the Governor has directed the Ministry of Lands and Housing to process the certificate of occupancy for the project within 48 hours.

He also mentioned that Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, was present at a meeting with Otti and Onyeka to lend his support to the project.

The Commissioner emphasized that these developments demonstrate the Governor’s commitment to education and sports development in the state.
