Tinubu replaces Arase with Argungu as Chairman, Police Service Commission

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has made significant appointments in the law enforcement sector.

According to a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Hashimu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission.

Additionally, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani has been appointed as Secretary and Taiwo Lakanu, also a retired DIG, has been appointed as a member of the Commission.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The statement also announced that Mohammed Sheidu has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), effective immediately.

The President has emphasized that he expects absolute integrity, diligence, and patriotism from the newly appointed officials in their duties, for the overall well-being of the Nigerian Police and the nation.

The appointments are expected to bring about positive changes in the law enforcement sector and enhance the effectiveness of the Police Service Commission in carrying out its duties.
