Shehu Mohammed, the newly appointed Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, enacted changes on Wednesday by redeploying five senior officers.
This strategic maneuver aims to boost the corps’ efficiency and streamline its operations.The reshuffling involves three Assistant Corps Marshals, one Corps Commander, and one Deputy Corps Commander, all of whom are required to assume their new roles immediately.
Among the changes, Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu, formerly the Public Education Officer, now heads the Administration and Human Resources Department at the FRSC headquarters.
Assistant Corps Marshal Chidi Nkwonta, previously serving as the Commandant of the FRSC Command and Staff College in UDI, Enugu State, takes on the role of Principal Staff Officer to the Corps Marshal.
Additionally, Assistant Corps Marshal Hafeez Muhammed has been redeployed as the Zonal Commanding Officer for Zone 7.
Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide transitions from overseeing Command Administration and Strategy at the National Headquarters to becoming the new Corps Public Education Officer. Meanwhile, Deputy Corps Commander Wasiu Adenekan assumes the position of Technical Advisor to the Corps Marshal and head of the Corps Information Technology Office.
Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide highlighted that these changes align with the strategic vision of the Corps Marshal to optimize performance and streamline operations.
Shehu Mohammed urged the redeployed officers to demonstrate unwavering commitment and dedication to their duties, emphasizing the FRSC’s overarching goal of ensuring road safety for all motorists.
On May 23, 2024, President Bola Tinubu appointed Mohammed as the new Corps Marshal of the FRSC, succeeding Dauda Biu, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.
