Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, has resumed his royal duties and received greetings from his subjects, despite a court order prohibiting his reinstatement. Kano State’s joint security agency has stated their commitment to upholding the court’s decision.
Emir Sanusi II appeared in the outer palace, where Emirs traditionally meet with their subjects and conduct court sessions. He was greeted by hundreds of cheering supporters as he rode a horse majestically.
State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo addressed the media, asserting that their decision to reinstate Sanusi II was legal. “The so-called court order banning Sanusi’s reinstatement was not officially delivered to us. When we reinstated him, it was after working hours, making any court action on the matter too late,” Gwarzo explained.
