The National Directorate of Employment on Friday trained 20 unemployed persons on environmental beautification skills in Imo State.
Director-General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu-Fikpo, said this at the flag-off of the directorate‘s Environmental Beautification Training Scheme for the year 2024 in Owerri.
Nuhu-Fikpo, represented by the Imo Coordinator of the NDE, Mrs. Theresa Nwachukwu, said the skills training, organised by the NDE’s Department of Special Public Works, would take the unemployed beneficiaries out of the streets and engage them in productive ventures.
She urged the participants to be diligent and steadfast to be able to “give back to the society at the end of the training.”
She said that the training would last for three months, advising the participants to focus on skills acquisition to prove their mettle and become employers of labour in the future.
