Runway Incident at Murtala Muhammed Airport: XEJET Airlines Aircraft Veers Off Course

Just 16 days after Dana Air was grounded by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authorities, another Nigerian aircraft, operated by XEJET Airlines, experienced a runway incident, veering off course and landing on the grass.

Following this occurrence, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has closed the 18/Left runway at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

The Airbus, registered as 5N-BZZ and carrying 52 passengers, had departed from Abuja and touched down in Lagos at 11:29 am.

Confirmation of the incident came from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, which stated that the XEJET Airlines aircraft had skidded off the runway at the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

Further details will be provided later.
