NDDC’s Healthcare Initiative: 48 Patients Receive Free Fibroid Surgeries in Delta State

Under the banner of its healthcare initiative, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reported that 48 patients underwent fibroid surgeries at the General Hospital Out Jeremi in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. The initiative aims to extend essential medical care to rural communities, with over 6,000 patients already benefiting from similar missions in Akwa Ibom and Imo states.

Representing NDDC’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Director 2 of Education, Health, and Social Services, Dr. Patience Ezugu, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to providing health solutions to over two million Niger Deltans across various communities. She highlighted the successful performance of various surgeries, including cataract procedures, significantly improving patients’ vision.

Dr. Ezugu announced plans to extend the healthcare initiative across the Niger Delta region following a mandate from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Additionally, the NDDC is collaborating with the World Health Organization on health insurance projects and other programs benefiting Niger Delta residents.

After inspecting the General Hospital units in Otu Jeremi, Dr. George Uzonwanne, NDDC Director of Education, Health, and Social Services, highlighted the substantial healthcare services provided, including over 4,000 patients attended to in Ukana, Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State, and over 3,000 beneficiaries receiving care at Oguta General Hospital in Oguta LGA of Imo State.
