She said the Governor gave the directives to the state ministry of environment for immediate measures to avert flooding this year.

According to the Governor, “the measures were necessary to curtail the menace of flooding which occurred yearly, as well as to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.

“You have to relocate all working material for the immediate embankment of frontline areas across the state.”

He said a nine-member committee was formed to go round and solicit the support and cooperation of all the communities.

The Commissioner of Environment, Dr Nura Ibrahim, however, said officials of the ministry had already paid an assessment visit to all front-line areas to identify measures to curtail the flood.
