Police arrest suspected armed robbers, recover three cars in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested three suspects involved in separate incidents of armed robbery and car theft in Katsina.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, one of the suspects, 45-year-old Sabi’u Musa, was arrested on May 1st, 2024, in connection with a case of armed robbery and car theft.

He said, “following a tip-off about a stolen Lexus saloon car, with registration number LND 215 GD, detectives tracked the vehicle down to the Katsina-Jibia road and apprehended Musa in possession of the stolen vehicle, which had reportedly been snatched at gunpoint in neighboring Kano State.

“During questioning, Musa confessed that he was heading to Maradi, Niger Republic, where he planned to sell the car.”

In a related development, ASP Sadiq disclosed that on April 27th, 2024, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit located another stolen vehicle from Kano, a white Vibe saloon car with registration number DKA 71 PX.

ASP Sadiq said the stolen vehicle was traced to Liyafa roundabout, Katsina, in the custody of two suspects, Abdulaziz Ibrahim (29) and Haruna Sani (47), both from Kano State.

During interrogation, Sani admitted to deceiving the owner into giving him the car, which he planned to sell in Katsina before he was arrested.
