The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the sentencing of two notorious drug kingpins, Uwaezuoke Ikenna Christian and Agbo Chidike Prince, to life imprisonment, marking the end of their extensive cocaine trafficking operations across continents.
Uwaezuoke’s journey to lifetime incarceration began with his arrest on March 19, 2022, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Despite initially escaping bail conditions, he was rearrested on August 1, 2023, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Despite pleading guilty to two counts, he was sentenced to life imprisonment on October 18, 2023.
Agbo Chidike Prince, aged 42, was arrested on October 21, 2023, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment on April 15, 2024.
In another incident, NDLEA officers arrested Yahaya Danjuma Oturah for attempting to export tramadol to Italy. Furthermore, in Bayelsa, Jennifer Iliya was apprehended for producing cannabis-laced cakes, while similar offenses led to the arrest of Josephine Odunu and Edesemi Ikporo in Yenagoa.
Additionally, NDLEA operations in Kaduna, Adamawa, and Lagos resulted in the seizure of significant amounts of drugs and the arrest of several suspects.
NDLEA Chairman/CEO, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the diligent prosecution of Uwazuoke and Agbo cases and applauded the efforts of various NDLEA commands across the country in combating drug trafficking.
