Lagos plans monthly reward for efficient LASTMA officers

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to recognize outstanding officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for their exceptional service.
Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, revealed this in an interview with our correspondent on Monday.

In a statement on its official handle, LASTMA earlier celebrated the exceptional achievements of an officer identified simply as Mrs. Adejoke, naming her “LASTMA Best Zonal Head for the month of March 2024.”
“The agency appreciates her hard work and dedication in traffic management showing leadership and the ability to motivate the entire zones. Cash gift was presented to Mrs. Adejoke by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa,” the post read.

Giwa stated, “It (the reward) is going to be a monthly thing,” emphasizing that the initiative aims to motivate LASTMA officers who have demonstrated diligence in managing traffic.

In February, the government, in collaboration with the Association of Certified Forensic Intelligence and Crime Analysts, trained 250 senior LASTMA officers in ‘Traffic Incident Management’ at the Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.

Adebayo Taofiq, the spokesperson for LASTMA, mentioned in a statement that the training was part of the ongoing strategic re-positioning of operatives of the agency.

During the training session, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Olwaseun Osiyemi, stated that the modules would be created to help LASTMA personnel become more effective.
