Newborn rescued after abandonment in Surulere, Lagos State

In Surulere, Lagos State, a newborn baby boy was rescued after being abandoned in a polythene bag on Alhaji Masha Road.

A social worker from a nearby hospital discovered the infant’s cries while passing by and promptly took him to Randle General Hospital for urgent medical care. Fortunately, the baby is said to be responding well to treatment.

The Divisional Police Officer and a team from the family support unit visited the scene to investigate. Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, assuring that the baby is receiving necessary care while the investigation continues.

This incident echoes a similar case in Dagbolu, Osun State, in December 2023, where a day-old baby was found abandoned in a carton, prompting an appeal from the government for information to locate the parents.
