35-year-old mother of four seeks N3m for cancer surgery

Ann Agbaraj, a 35-year-old woman, is urgently seeking financial support amounting to N3 million to undergo cancer surgery, as disclosed in an appeal letter dated April 5, 2024, by Advocates in

Defence of Human Rights and Culture. Signed by the National President, Joseph Onagunwa, the letter highlighted Ann’s critical need for assistance due to the deterioration of both her breasts.

Described as a member of a civil society organization with nationwide coverage in 18 states, Ann has been battling breast cancer since November 2020.

The condition began as a small, painless lump in her left breast and has since escalated, requiring various treatments, including mammography, chemotherapy, and radiography at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.

Despite undergoing extensive medical procedures, Ann’s situation worsened, necessitating the urgent removal of her left breast.

However, due to financial constraints, she has been unable to proceed with the surgery, resulting in worsening symptoms, including the discharge of worms and foul odor from her breast.

A medical report from Lagos University Teaching Hospital confirmed Ann’s diagnosis of invasive grade 2 tumor cancer, indicating a high likelihood of spreading. In a desperate plea for assistance, Ann expressed fears that the tumor may affect other parts of her body if left untreated.

She described the distressing condition of her breast, noting its significant size, decay, and foul odor, attracting flies and causing discomfort.

Despite previous financial contributions amounting to N400,000, Ann emphasized the urgent need for additional funds to address her deteriorating health condition.

Joseph Onagunwa, the National President of Advocates in the Defence of Human Rights and Culture, reiterated the urgency of Ann’s situation, emphasizing the need to raise N3 million for the removal of both breasts at Lagos State Teaching Hospital to prevent further complications.

Donations to support Ann’s medical expenses can be made to her Zenith bank account, with the account number 2260951366 under the name Agbaraj Ochuko Ann.
