Yoruba Nation: Osun Amotekun cautions against unlawful gathering

The Osun Amotekun Corps has issued a stern warning against any unlawful gatherings masquerading as Yoruba Nation agitation, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.

Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, rtd, the Corps Commander, emphasized that Amotekun would not tolerate any protests by the Yoruba Nation group in Osun State. He stated that the state had already achieved the essence of the agitation indirectly, citing the leadership of a Yoruba man, President Bola Tinubu, in Nigeria.

Adewinmbi urged against creating insecurity or confusion to distract the president from governance, emphasizing that Nigeria, under a Yoruba leader, effectively represents a Yoruba Nation indirectly. He urged patience and cooperation, stressing that the Yoruba Nation agitation is unnecessary and only serve to impede progress.

The warning comes in the wake of an incident where suspected Yoruba Nation agitators, clad in military camouflage and armed, invaded the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Ibadan. Following this, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke directed the mobilization of joint security teams to safeguard strategic government buildings in the state.

The Osun State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Yemisi Opalola, affirmed readiness to prevent any acts of lawlessness, regardless of the perpetrators’ status, echoing the commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
