We’re investigating alleged drowning of military cadet in Abia hotel — Police

The Abia State Police Command has initiated investigations into the reported drowning of an Air Force personnel at a prominent hotel in Umuahia, the state capital. Police Public Relations Officer, Moureen Chinaka, informed Saturday Vanguard that the Central Police Station (CPS) in Umuahia is looking into the incident.

When our correspondent visited the hotel in question, situated near the Abia seat of power, the receptionist declined to provide comments on the matter. Inquiring about the Manager’s contact, she stated that the Manager and his team were currently out conducting investigations and suggested revisiting the next day.

According to social media reports, an Air Force cadet allegedly drowned in the hotel’s swimming pool last Tuesday. An anonymous source mentioned that the deceased visited the facility for a swim while the pool was undergoing renovation.

The body of the deceased was reportedly recovered by the Abia State Fire Service and rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, where he was pronounced dead.
