We’ll partner FG to provide housing for Rivers people – Fubara

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has pledged to collaborate closely with the Federal Government to tackle the housing challenges faced by low-income earners in the state. This partnership aims to alleviate the housing pressure experienced by citizens, impacting both low and medium-income earners.

During a courtesy visit by the management team of the Federal Housing Authority of Nigeria, led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to the President for his support. He highlighted the critical need for affordable housing, emphasizing that it has become a pressing issue affecting all segments of society.

The governor highlighted the Rivers State government’s commitment to addressing housing needs, citing the initiation of a 20,000 housing unit project tailored for low-income earners. This project aligns with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and underscores the state government’s dedication to providing affordable housing solutions.

Fubara emphasized the importance of prioritizing housing for civil servants, traders, taxi drivers, teachers, and other workers, underscoring the need for inclusive development. He commended the Federal Housing Authority’s willingness to collaborate and stressed the importance of indigenous contractors’ involvement in the project.

Acknowledging the purpose of the visit, Governor Fubara reiterated his administration’s dedication to social housing policies. He appreciated the Federal Housing Authority’s commitment to partnering with the state government and assured them of full support to ensure the project’s success.

The Managing Director/CEO of FHAN, Hon. Ojo, outlined the authority’s mandate to provide affordable housing to Nigerians, as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasized the strategic importance of Rivers State and solicited the governor’s partnership in providing land for housing projects tailored to the needs of the state’s residents.

The collaboration aims to ensure that housing projects are not only affordable but also meet the specific needs of the people of Rivers State. By involving local stakeholders in the design and implementation process, the initiative seeks to ensure the sustainability and ownership of the housing solutions by the community members themselves.
