Zamfara govt reaffirms stance never to negotiate, reconcile with bandits

The Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Mani Malam Mummuni, has reiterated the State Government’s unwavering position against negotiating with bandits, pledging to implement assertive measures to tackle banditry in the State. Mummuni, who currently serves as the Acting Governor, highlighted significant improvements in the security situation, crediting Governor Dauda Lawal and security forces for their dedicated efforts in combating terrorism.

Speaking during a Statewide broadcast on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr in Gusau, the State capital, Mummuni urged citizens to uphold the valuable lessons learned during Ramadan and to continue fervent prayers for peace and harmony.

He praised Governor Lawal’s commitment to restoring normalcy in Zamfara State and sought continued support and prayers from the people for ongoing security initiatives. Mummuni also disclosed engagements with national security chiefs initiated by Governor Lawal, including a recent visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, prompted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directives following advocacy by Governor Dauda.

Emphasizing the State government’s firm stance against negotiating with bandits, Mummuni pledged to implement aggressive measures to combat insecurity and ensure peace prevails.

Expressing gratitude for the citizens’ steadfast support, he assured that Governor Lawal’s administration remained committed to fulfilling campaign promises, particularly in prioritizing security.
