FCT: Police arrest alleged armed robbery kingpin, Chukwuemeka Oputa, 4 others

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended Chukwuemeka Oputa, also known as ‘Pounds and Dollar’, from Umuaka, Njaba, Imo State, purportedly the ringleader of a gang linked to numerous armed robberies and criminal activities in the nation’s capital.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, the arrest took place on April 4, 2024, following the capture of Moses Hassan, a cultist and member of the same armed robbery syndicate, on February 14, 2024. Additionally, other members of the gang, including Praise Etta from Etung, Cross River State, Rafael Dav alias Raffy from Guma, Benue State, and Thomas Akange from Markudi, Benue State, were also apprehended.

Among the exhibits seized were four locally manufactured AK47 rifles, three makeshift rifles using cartridges, an English pistol, a locally made pistol, a Dane gun, three AK47 ammunitions, a 5.56mm assault ammunition, and an empty cartridge.

The suspects have admitted to participating in various armed robberies and other criminal activities in the FCT and are affiliated with a cult group known as Vikings, as stated by the PPRO.
