Two Police constables dismissed over extortion

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed two Special Constables serving in Oyo State over extortion.

The Commissioner of Police for Oyo State Command, CP Adebola Hamzat, paraded the officers at the police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, identifying them as Jimoh Lukman and Kareem Fatai.

The two dismissed officers were accused of soliciting money from a Dutch national who was captured in a viral video riding a power bike from the Netherlands en route to Abuja, the federal capital Territory.

Consequently, they were stripped of their Nigerian Police uniform to confirm their departure from the service.

CP Adebola explained that their dismissal from the police constabulary followed the recommendation of the orderly room investigation.

He reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy towards corrupt practices in the Nigeria Police, emphasizing that such misconduct, which he described as embarrassing, would not be tolerated from any officer.

The CP added that the two dismissed constables would not face prosecution in court since they were not originally trained officers of the Nigerian Police Force.
