Kano State Passes N437bn Budget For 2024

The Kano state house of assembly has approved the sum of N437.35bn for the 2024 budget.

Recall that the governor of the state, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had presented a N350bn naira to the assembly on October 27, promising to block leakages and ensure transparency and accountability in government businesses.

Speaker of the Assembly, Jubril Ismail Falgore, said the budget was increased from N350bn to N437.3bn before its passage to take care of the needs of the people.

Falgore said 64 percent of the budget was earmarked for capital projects while 38 percent is for recurrent expenditures.

The assembly had conducted public hearing last week to get inputs from other stakeholders on the budget after the 44 local government chairmen appeared before the lawmakers on budget defence.

Majority leader and member representing Dala constituency, Lawal Hussaini Chediyar, said the budget is designed to focus on providing quality education, healthcare service, roads and other infrastructure in the rural areas as well as skill acquisition for women and youths.

The house adjourned sitting till January 29, 2024.
