Gunmen Reportedly Leave With Head, Leg Of One Of 10 Killed During Attack On Anambra Nightclub

Gunmen terrorising Anambra State on Sunday night attacked a nightclub in Oba, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state and reportedly beheaded a security guard and cut off his leg.

They reportedly went away with the decapitated head and leg of one of their victims.

The gunmen reportedly killed about 10 persons including vigilantes and fun seekers while many others were injured.

It was gathered that the assailants who came in large numbers stormed the nightclub identified as Porsche Nightclub in two Hilux vehicles in an attempt to kidnap the owner of the clubhouse.

A source said the security guards and vigilantes attached to the place resisted them and in anger, the gunmen opened fire on the security operatives.

In the process, 10 people including some of the security personnel and fun seekers were killed.

“Some of these criminals went to kidnap the owner of Porsche Nightclub, Oba. The security guys there resisted them for a while.

“Maybe that was the reason why they killed 10 people and left with the head and one leg of one of the victims,” a source said.

However, the state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident when SaharaReporters contacted him did not state the number of casualties from the incident.

He, however, vowed that the assailants would not go unpunished, adding that the command had deployed personnel to go after the killers.

Ikenga added that no arrest had been made yet as the gunmen had fled the scene before the police arrived.

The police spokesperson said, “Yes, the incident happened. Our men were alerted and they quickly moved to the scene of the incident, but the gunmen had already fled.

“Our men have recovered the bodies of the vigilante operatives who were fatally wounded, while others sustained various degrees of injury.

“We have also fully deployed our men to Oba and operation is ongoing. So far, no arrest has been made.”

Meanwhile, the Sunday night attack In Oba was not the first time the community would experience such a tragic incident.

The incident occurred in the same community where a native doctor popularly known as Akwa Okuko was attacked and kidnapped some months ago by gunmen in his hotel.

He was released after reportedly paying millions of naira as ransom.
