The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru on Thursday presented the sum of over two billion naira (202,127,918,907.00), to the state House of Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year.
The governor while presenting the budget titled, “Innovation and progress’, said the Proposed 2024 Budget estimate will assist his administration to meet the people’s needs.
He said that a total of 132,804,740,000 billion naira, will go for capital expenditure while 41,161,100,000 billion will be for recurrent expenditure.
Nwifuru noted that his administration will focus more on health, education, economic development, social integration, urban-rural connectivity and tourism potential in the 2024 fiscal year.
In the budget estimate, the administration sector took 41,243,151, 900.00 representing 27percent, Economic sector took 90,389,600,000.00 representing 10 percent, law and justice has 3,589,365,007 representing 37percent, Regional sector -714, 010,000 representing 95% while the social sector took the highest 66billion representing 66percent.
DAILY POST reports that the budget has passed the first reading in a motion moved by the House leader, Ikoro Kingsley representing the Afikpo Northwest constituency and seconded by Chukwu Arinze representing the Ishielu South constituency in the state House of Assembly.
The Speaker, Moses One Odunwa applauded the governor for the prompt presentation of the 2024 budget estimate to the state house.
He assured the governor of the speedy passage of the 202.1 billion naira 2024 fiscal year budget estimate into law.
