The Acting Dean of Student Affairs of Osun State University, Dr. Julianah Akindele, has been selected as one of the participants to attend the International Deans’ Course Africa 2023/2024, which first part is slated to hold from Monday 19th June to Friday, 30th June, 2023, at Osnabrück, Germany.

Akindele was selected amongst thirty other Deans, Vice-Deans and Heads of Departments from Universities in Africa, with the objective of preparing them for the challenges of holding a Deanship position in a changing higher education landscape.

It is worthy of note that Akindele made the list of participants due to the quality of her application, as the organizers confirmed that a host of applications were received across the African hemisphere.

The International Deans’ Course Africa 2023/2024 is organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, and the Centre for Higher Education (CHE). This intensive training is part of the DIES-programme (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies), and has been funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) since 2001.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, in his reaction to Akindele’s selection lauded her for putting together an application that was worthy of selection, noting that she joins the long list of staff, students and alumni of the University that have been doing their bit to further elevate the soaring academic reputation of the University.

He thereafter congratulated her on the feat saying “I congratulate you on behalf of Senate, Management, Staff and Students of the University and wish you well on this sojourn and I believe that you would represent Osun State University very well.”
