The Executive Governor of Osun State and Visitor to Osun State University, H.E. Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has approved the nomination of one of the Senior Lecturers in the Department of Arabic and Foreign Language of Osun state University, Dr. Mikail Adebisi Folorunsho, to serve as the Chief Cleric for the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2023.
This approval was confirmed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Ademola, Adesoji, on Monday, 15th May, 2023. Adesoji revealed that a request letter was received, dated Monday, 8th May, 2023, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, and signed by the Administrative Secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Bolaji Sammi, relaying the Governor’s approval to the VC on behalf of the board.
Excerpt from the letter read: “I reverently refer to the above and to inform you that the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has approved the nomination of Dr. Mikail Adebisi Folorunsho as the Chief Cleric for the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2023. I am here to request your Honour to graciously approve the release of Dr. Mikail Adebisi Folorunsho between 20th of May to 10th of July,2023 for the state assignment.”
The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, appointed Dr. Folorunsho for this international assignment due to his vast experience, knowledge and expertise in Arabic studies, which the members of the board wish to tap from.
Dr. Folorunsho is an Associate Professor of Arabic Studies. He has a B.A (Hons), M.A., PDGE, and a PhD(Arabic) in the study of Arabic and Foreign Languages. He also has 38 scholastic publications of books on Challenges and Strategies on Islamic Appreciations.
