Sahara Power CEO, Delivers Inaugural Business Lecture at KolaDaisi University

The inaugural business lecture series of KolaDaisi University was held on January 10, 2025, at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium, with the Group Managing Director and CEO of Sahara Power Group, Mr. Kola Adesina, MFR, FNSE, delivering an inspiring lecture titled “Entrepreneurial Mindset: How to Think Like a Successful Entrepreneur.”

Organized by the Department of Business Administration, the event featured Professor Olatunbosun Adeniyi, SAN, as the Chief Host, Professor Jendele Hungbo as Co-host, and Dr. Babatunde Agbi as Host. The lecture attracted dignitaries, University officials, and students eager to gain insights into entrepreneurship and innovation.

In his address, Mr. Adesina emphasized the importance of critical thinking, innovation, and adaptability as essential tools for entrepreneurial success. He encouraged students to transcend mediocrity, leverage their time effectively, and aim to become job creators rather than job seekers. “Your future is in your hands, and everything starts with your mindset,” he said, urging students to embrace challenges and view failures as stepping stones to success.

Highlighting the relationship between risks and rewards, Mr. Adesina remarked, “High risks bring high returns, while low risks yield low returns.” He also shared lessons from business history, warning against stagnation and drawing parallels with the decline of once-dominant companies like Nokia.

During the interactive session, Mr. Adesina announced plans to offer internships to high-performing students with strong academic records and exemplary character. Additionally, he pledged to establish a state-of-the-art Entrepreneurship Center at KolaDaisi University to enhance skill acquisition and vocational training.

The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun, SAN; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji; members of the University Governing Council, including Mrs. Olasumbo Obaseki and Mr. Tokunbo James; the Registrar, Mr. Haruna Olawale Adetu; and faculty leaders such as Professor Tim Odiaka, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences; Associate Professor Ganiyat Ishola, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; The University Bursar, Dr. Michael Alatise and Dr. Titiloye Ojo, Acting Dean of Students Affairs.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Adesina reiterated the transformative power of an entrepreneurial mindset. “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do,” he said, inspiring students to believe in their potential to drive change and create lasting impact.

The lecture marked the beginning of a promising series aimed at equipping KolaDaisi University students with the tools and mindset needed to excel in a dynamic, globalized economy.
