An Osun-based socio-political group, Coalition for Good Governance (C4GG) has reacted to recent publications by the Osogbo Affairs Forum purporting to represent the indigenous people of Osogboland.
The group has alleged that the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led government of Osun has allocated some parts of Government Technical College in Osogbo to a private estate developer.
In its reaction signed by its Executive Director, C4GG condemned the claims as “misleading and unjust,” asserting that they are an attempt to derail a vital, government-sanctioned project that promises significant benefits to the people of Osogbo and the broader Osun State community.
ODAG, in a press release signed by the Coordinator and Secretary, Mr Lukman Ajani and Mr Suhaib Oladejo on Tuesday in Osogbo, claimed the state government converted Technical College Osogbo to a commercial and residential area. The group thereafter enjoined the government to immediately take back its decision by revoking the land for its originally intended educational and vocational purposes.
The statement reads, “Let it be on record that the state Government legitimately acquired the land in question from relevant stakeholders many years ago in accordance to the laws applicable at the time of acquisition and the records are available for public access.
“To be clear, the government of Osun State, within its full legal authority and commitment to the welfare of its people, ceded a portion of land adjoining the Technical College for development.
“This decision is part of the state’s ongoing strategy to foster growth, enhance urban infrastructure, and address the pressing need for affordable housing and public amenities for the residents of Osogbo and the people of Osun. Under the Public, Private Partnership policy of the state Government.
“This project, undertaken by Zoe Global Industrial Limited, is designed to uplift the community by providing not only modern, affordable housing but also numerous facilities that will benefit the public, including a map estate, shopping complex, and other accessible public spaces. These elements will contribute to the quality of life for all citizens of Osun, ensuring that the community has access to essential services, safe recreational areas, and economic opportunities.”
Adegbemle emphasized the project’s projected impact: “This development will not only enhance the quality of life in Osogbo but also increase the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR). The commercial facilities, such as the shopping mall, will generate continuous revenue streams, supporting essential services for the people of Osun. It’s unimaginable that any group genuinely concerned with Osogbo’s welfare would attempt to obstruct such a beneficial initiative.”
He continued: “It is also necessary to address the motivations of the individuals behind this publication. The authors are not impartial advocates for the people; rather, they are known land grabbers who have attempted in the past to manipulate the judicial system in order to gain control over this very land for their personal financial gain.
“This group even went as far as misleading a judge to procure rights to sell public property for private profit—an attempt that, fortunately, was thwarted. When these self-serving efforts failed, they resorted to an unfounded public petition, hoping to undermine the government’s people-oriented vision by causing needless distraction.”
C4GG added that government remains steadfast in its commitment to this development, grounded in the principles of transparency, fairness, and community benefit. The initiative is being pursued with a clear vision to improve standards of living, foster unity, and bolster economic opportunity for all citizens of Osun State.
It subsequently called upon well-meaning residents to support the government’s vision. As Osun State looks to the future, the Technical College land project stands as a pivotal element in building a prosperous and sustainable Osogbo.
