President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Chief Bisi Akande, former governor of Osun State and the first chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan (UI) in Oyo State.
Chief Bisi Akande, a respected political figure and elder statesman, brings a wealth of experience to the position.
His leadership tenure as the governor of Osun State and his foundational role in the APC are expected to contribute significantly to the strategic direction and governance of Nigeria’s premier university.
A former national chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, is a former chairman of the council.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed Oyegun on Thursday, 8 April 2021.
Chief Oyegun served alongside Dr Mazud Kazaure from the North-West, Comrade Abba Yaro from the North Central, Alh. Abubakar Maikafi from the North East, and Hon. Emeka Nwagbo from the South East.
