The Nigerian Navy has unveiled many promotions, elevating Commodore Ayo Vaughan, the Navy spokesperson, and 57 other senior officers to higher ranks.
This decision, approved by the Navy board on December 21, 2023, witnessed 28 Navy Captains ascending to the esteemed rank of Commodore, while 30 Commodores were further promoted to the status of Rear Admirals.
The newly minted Rear Admirals list includes distinguished individuals such as Commodores Adefemi Kayode, Gabriel Aligwe, and Aliyu Gaya, among others.
Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, the Director of Information and the spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy, was among those promoted from Commodore to Rear Admiral.
Commodore Joseph Ake was elevated upon retirement in this wave of promotions, while a cohort of new Commodores emerged, including Captains Innocent Udoudoh, Mohammed Umaru, and Reginald Adoki, among others.
Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla AM, the Naval Staff Chief, congratulated the newly promoted officers and their families.
He urged them to reaffirm their dedication to national service. He emphasized the importance of loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
