FRSC Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident in Osun

A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer was injured on Friday morning after being struck by a speeding driver on the Osogbo-Gbongan Road.

The incident occurred near the Osun Government Secretariat in Abere.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of a Lexus Jeep was traveling at high speed when he failed to stop at a roadblock operated by FRSC officers near the Osun Sector Headquarters.

The officers had flagged him down, but the driver deliberately ignored their warning and continued to drive recklessly.

The driver struck one of the officers, causing him to fall off the vehicle, and then sped away towards Akoda Junction.

Two witnesses, Fatai and Ramota Olagunju, who were roadside traders at the time, described the incident as a “heinous act” and expressed shock at the driver’s callous behavior.

The FRSC officer was rushed to hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to apprehend the driver involved.

In a statement, FRSC Osun Sector Commander Inyang Umoh confirmed the incident and provided an update on the officer’s condition.

He said that efforts are underway to track down the driver and bring him to justice.
