Church founder, wife, elders arrested in Delta for alleged kidnapping

A dramatic turn of events has unfolded in Delta State as the founder and General Overseer of the Manifestations of Holy Ghost Ministry, Bishop Godfrey Erhivwinoja, and several others, including his wife and church elders, have been arrested by security agents.

The arrests were made after a search warrant was executed at Bishop Erhivwinoja’s residence in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, where military fatigues belonging to his associates were recovered.

According to sources, the alleged kidnapping attempt was orchestrated by Bishop Erhivwinoja after he sent a threatening text message to another bishop, demanding N150,000. The threatened bishop sent N100,000 to the provided account but delayed sending the remaining N50,000, prompting multiple threatening messages.

One of the arrested elders confessed that Bishop Erhivwinoja had instructed them to kidnap and assassinate the targeted bishop at his church in Agbarho. The elder claimed that they had been hired to carry out the heinous act.

Further investigation revealed that the group had a history of committing crimes, including murder. They allegedly killed a chief near a railway line and kidnapped Olorogun Tramador.

The suspects are currently being held at the Ughelli A’ Division police station. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, has yet to respond to inquiries about the incident.

The motives behind Bishop Erhivwinoja’s alleged actions remain unclear, and it is uncertain whether he will face charges related to the kidnapping attempt.
