How Minister Olawande transformed youth space in one year — Lawyer

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sunusi Musa, has rolled out the achievements of Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, in his first year in office.

In a statement signed Tuesday, the Abuja-based lawyer, described Olawande’s “Youth4Youth” agenda as instrumental in driving his commitment to serving the youth constituency.

“Through various engagement sessions across the country, he has listened to the concerns and challenges of young Nigerians, using this feedback to inform policy decisions.

“One of his notable initiatives is the Corpreneur Support Initiative, launched in partnership with Wema Bank, providing startup grants to corps members who acquired skills through the NYSC’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program.

“The Minister has also championed the “One Youth, 2 Skills” campaign, aimed at ensuring Nigerian youth possess at least two skills for a meaningful existence. To drive this aspiration, he initiated the Nigerian Youth Academy.

“Olawande’s Green House Initiative seeks to provide a platform for informal youth across communities in all 774 Local Government Areas to receive support and information on federal government interventions.

“In a bid to enhance access to government programs, he secured presidential approval for the establishment of a Youth House in Abuja, to be replicated as Youth Centres across the 36 states.

“To foster dialogue and deeper engagement between youth and government, Olawande spearheaded the convocation of a National Youth Conference.

“Additionally, he launched the “Young & Secure” initiative to address youth harassment and distrust between young people and security agencies.

“Olawande has formed partnerships with government agencies and development partners, including NITDA, PiCNG, NDPC, and Plan International, to improve opportunities for Nigerian youth,” the statement partly read.
