Palliatives: PDP Osun central receives 3,000 bags of rice

The leadership of the Osun Central Senatorial District of the Peoples Democratic Party has commended a party chieftain, Mr Ibraheem Adekunle, for donating 3,000 bags of rice to members of the party in the district.

The food items are intended as palliatives for PDP members in Osun Central, which comprises 10 local government areas, aimed at alleviating the effects of the harsh economy on them.

The items were received by the Osun Central Senatorial Youth Leader, Lukman Akintunde, and the PDP Chairman of Olorunda Local Government, Mr Amzat Ademola, at the PDP State Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday.

While presenting the food items, the South West Zonal PDP Youth Leader, Mr Seyi Bamidele, said that Adekunle, despite only recently joining the party, was motivated to provide relief to the people due to the economic crisis following the removal of the petrol subsidy by the Federal Government.

Adekunle, who called on well-meaning members of the party to support Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in addressing rising poverty caused by the increase in pump prices, expressed his willingness to do more to support the needy in Osun State.

He further stated that the food items would be distributed to all the wards in the Osun Central Senatorial District.

“The current economic realities have made it necessary for those with the means to assist the government in meeting the needs of the populace.

“This gesture is in support of our governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is doing a lot for the people. Those who have the means should also come forward and support this administration to provide more palliatives for the people.

“We have 3,000 bags here, and they will be distributed to all the wards in the Osun Central Senatorial District for PDP members,” Adekunle said.

In response, Osun Central PDP Youth Leader Akintunde, who confirmed that the items would be distributed to all wards in the Senatorial District, commended the donor for the initiative.
