Liverpool knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup in thrilling encounter

In a thrilling FA Cup clash at the Emirates, Liverpool seized the spotlight, capitalising on Arsenal’s persistent inability to convert opportunities, securing a 2-0 victory in the third round. This defeat marked the 14-time winners’ exit before the fifth round for the fourth consecutive season, adding a layer of disappointment to their storied history in the competition.

Arsenal had some good chances, especially with Reiss Nelson. He missed a shot and later, another attempt was deflected wide. Liverpool defended well, withstanding many goal attempts, including a shot by Martin Ødegaard that hit the bar.

After surviving Arsenal’s attacks, Liverpool started to play better. Darwin Núñez missed a chance to score, but Arsenal also missed opportunities, particularly Kai Havertz. Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the bar late in the first half but despite Liverpool’s efforts, Arsenal should have been ahead at halftime.

In the second half, Liverpool improved, as Jürgen Klopp moved Núñez to the left side. Arsenal still had chances, but they were not able to score. Liverpool scored their first goal with a header by Kiwior, who unluckily put it into his own net from a Trent Alexander-Arnold set-piece.

In the final moments, Luis Díaz scored a second goal for Liverpool, securing their spot in the FA Cup fourth round. It was a tough game for Arsenal, who couldn’t score at home for the second consecutive match. Arsenal have now won just one of their last seven games in all competitions, losing the last three in a row.
