Police arrest motorcycle thieves in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested one Kabiru Abubakar who specialises in motorcycle theft together with some of his accomplices.

According to a statement signed by the spokesman for the command, ASP Ahmad Rufai, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the suspect was arrested after stealing a motorcycle parked at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.

The statement read, “One Kabiru Abubakar Alias “m” aged 25 has been arrested by Sokoto State Police Command’s Striking Force for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from where it was parked at Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTH), on the day hours of July 5, 2024.

“The motorcycle was recovered upon the arrest of the suspect, while the owner of the motorcycle was located and identified it as his.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and also stole one motorcycle at Rahamat Clinic, Sokoto belonging to one Naziru Muhammad ‘M’ Kano Road.

“He mentioned one Kabiru Alhaji Yaro ‘m’ Bello Way Area, Sokoto as his receiver, and further investigations led to the recovery of six motorcycles.”

The statement added that the suspects would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigation.
