Niger gov mourns as deputy loses wife

The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, on Tuesday, expressed sadness over the death of the wife of his deputy, Hajia Zainab Garba.

The PUNCH learnt that Hajiya Garba died on Monday after a brief illness.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Bologi Ibrahim, said in a statement that Bajo received the news of Hajia Garba’s death with sadness.

“He said it is indeed devastating news and a trying moment not only for his deputy but the government and the entire people of the state.

“The governor, while commiserating with his deputy over the loss, encouraged him to see the demise of his wife as an act of Allah, and be consoled by the fact that the deceased lived a good life,” the statement read.

He promised the support of the State Executive Council to the deputy governor “at this moment of grief.”
