The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced investigation into the death of a 15-year old student of Air Force Comprehensive School, Kaduna identified as Blaise Felix Aliyu.
A statement issued by the NAF spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, stated that “the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar and indeed the entire NAF family are saddened by the painful and unfortunate incident of the untimely death of one of our students at Air Force Secondary School, Kaduna on 19 Jun 24”.
Although the statement did not include the name of the student, NAF added that ” to avoid all sorts of speculations, a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to unravel how, why and what actually led to the death of the victim.
“Rest assured that this matter is receiving the utmost urgency it deserves, and we won’t rest until it is unraveled.”
However, sources said the student was allegedly murdered by two senior secondary (SS3) students in the school dormitory within the Air Force Base in Mando, Kaduna.
“Late Felix lost his parents in 2013 and left behind his twin brother who is in JSS2 in the same boarding school.
His body was deposited in the mortuary until investigation is concluded.”
“The incident happened on June 19, 2024.
Two SS3 students invited him to their room to punish him but ended up killing him.
“What I gathered was that the two SS3 students who just finished their WAEC and were waiting for NECO examination invited Felix Aliyu who’s an Assistant Head Boy to one of their rooms to punish him.
I learnt the two SS3 students suspected to be behind the act were arrested,” the source said.
Chairman of the school’s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), alleged that “Felix died as a result of being punished by an SS3 student who did an illegal connection of electricity in the room and the deceased student had contact with the iron bed during the course of punishment and was electrocuted and eventually died.”
