AFC Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Empowerment, Advocacy

The Association of Female Comrades (AFC), through the Office of the National Vice President, has marked its first anniversary, celebrating twelve months of impactful leadership, gender advocacy, and grassroots empowerment.

Established as a platform to advance the rights and opportunities of women and girls across Nigeria, the AFC has, over the past year, evolved into a formidable voice in the fight for gender equity, female education, and inclusive development. Originally known as the National Association of Female Comrades, the organisation was formally registered and restructured into the Association of Female Comrades, reflecting a broader and more strategic approach to advocacy and national engagement.

“Today marks not just a passage of time, but a celebration of progress,” said the National Vice President in an official anniversary message. “We honour the collective strength, sacrifice, and resilience of our members, coordinators, and supporters across the country who have made this journey possible.”

Operating with representation in all 36 states of the federation, the Association’s theme “The Future is Female” has gone beyond rhetoric, serving as the foundation for a series of targeted initiatives designed to address systemic barriers facing women and girls. Over the past year, AFC has launched community outreach programmes, policy dialogues, capacity-building workshops, and campaigns focused on the education of the girl-child, women’s rights, and leadership development.

“We have seen measurable impact in just one year,” the Vice President noted. “Our coordinators have worked tirelessly to institutionalise our values at every level. This anniversary is a moment to recognise those achievements and chart a path for even greater strides.”

AFC’s milestone anniversary is also an opportunity to reflect on the wider societal impact of its work. From fostering civic engagement among young women to creating mentorship opportunities and educational platforms, the Association has positioned itself as a key stakeholder in Nigeria’s gender policy landscape.

In a show of appreciation, the National Vice President extended congratulations to the national executives, state coordinators, appointees, and all female comrades across the country and beyond. “Your dedication has brought this organisation to life. Your commitment has propelled it forward. This celebration belongs to you.”

Looking ahead, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its reach, strengthening institutional partnerships, and remaining at the forefront of the movement for gender justice and social inclusion. With a forward-thinking strategy and an expanding support base, AFC is poised to deepen its impact across Nigeria.

“As we enter our second year, we remain more determined than ever,” the Vice President affirmed. “Our goal is to continue building an environment where women are not only seen and heard but are empowered to lead.”

The Association of Female Comrades remains committed to creating a future where every girl has access to education, every woman has a seat at the table, and no voice is left unheard.

Happy Anniversary to all Female Comrades. The journey continues.
