Massacre of 40 farmers in Borno despicable, cruel – Shehu Sani

Former senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani said the massacre of 40 farmers by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State is a despicable and cruel act.

Sani said this in an X post on Wednesday.

It was learnt that Boko Haram insurgents launched an attack on a farming community, Kayakura village, in Doron Baga ward, around 4:30pm on Sunday.

A local source said no fewer than 40 farmers were killed and many missing in the attack.

Sani recalled a similar attack during which over 50 farmers were killed by insurgents in rice fields near Zabarmari village, also in Borno State on November 28, 2020.

He urged the authorities to sustain the fight against insurgency to bring “evil to justice”.

Condemning the latest attack, Sani said, “The massacre of 40 farmers in Borno State by terrorists almost four years after the killing of 50 rice farmers in Zabarmari village in same Borno state is despicable and cruel.

“The greatest honour to the deceased is continue the fight to secure the country and bring evil to justice.

“May their souls rest in peace.”
