Allow Ifa, Ogun deities to choose next Owa Obokun, contestant urges Adeleke

Asks kingmakers not to sell throne to highest bidder

One of the contestants to the vacant stool of Owa ObokunAdimula of Ijesaland, Kayode Arimoro, has called on the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to ensure justice and fairness in the selection of a new paramount ruler of Ijesaland by allowing Ifa oracle, Obokun and Ogun deities to choose the next traditional ruler.

Arimoro, a descendant of Owa BilaroOluodo Ruling House of Ijesaland, appealed, yesterday while declaring his intention to contest for the sacred throne. The contestant, during a media briefing in Ilesa, warned kingmakers against selling the throne, insisting that Ifa oracle and other deities should be allowed to choose for the people.

Arimoro, who urged the governor and kingmakers against imposing an Oba on the Ijesa people, promised to transform Ijesaland, ensure security by tackling cultism and illegal mining and also drive investments in the land if he is chosen.

According to him, Ijesaland would be transformed into a beacon of progress, innovation, and unity when he mounts the throne.

He highlighted technological advancement for sustainable growth and youth sports development as a cornerstone of empowerment, as well as the strategic positioning of women for sustainable development, upliftment of retired citizens, standardisation of gold mining and land reclamation and enhancement of agriculture and animal husbandry as key areas that his leadership would focus on.

Arimoro, a cyber security expert, therefore, called on custodians of traditions and culture and kingmakers to be fair and allow justice to prevail in the selection process.
