The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on the Marine Bridge to facilitate repair works scheduled from Wednesday, December 4, 2024, to Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement on Sunday, urging the public to exercise patience during the rehabilitation period.
Alternative Routes for Motorists: From Apapa to Lagos Island:
Motorists can go through Costain Roundabout, link Eko Bridge, and proceed to Lagos Island.
Alternatively, from Apapa, motorists may link Ijora 7Up via Marine Bridge, access the ramp to Ijora Causeway Access Road through Ijora Oloye, and connect to Eko Bridge to reach Lagos Island.
From Apapa to Ijora Causeway/Iddo:
Motorists are advised to link Costain Roundabout to access Eko Bridge, then connect Ijora Causeway and proceed to the ramp through the U-turn to link Iddo.
Another option is to link Ijora 7Up via Marine Bridge, access Ijora Causeway through Ijora Oloye, and connect to Iddo.
During this period, traffic from Costain Roundabout heading inbound Apapa will remain uninterrupted.
Osiyemi stressed that the diversion is part of a traffic management plan designed to facilitate the Federal Ministry of Works’ rehabilitation of the road’s asphalt pavement.
“Motorists are implored to be patient, as this measure aims to ensure smooth operations during the repair works,” Osiyemi stated.
