I’ve never experienced sex-for-role demands – Bimbo Ademoye

Bimbo Ademoye, a name that has become synonymous with talent and grace in the Nigerian movie industry, has come a long way since her debut in 2014.

Despite her numerous achievements, Ademoye says she’s not fulfilled yet in her field as she looks forward to playing two major roles, “I want to play the role of someone with a terminal disease. God forbid, I don’t want that in real life. I lost my stepmom to cancer. That major loss took a lot from my father and half-brother. I also look forward to playing the role of a mother, maybe a mother of a child who is always bullied or a single mother. We have many people out there that are stigmatizing single motherhood. I would like to tell their story in my way,” she told Saturday Sun.

Reflecting on her career, which began in 2014, Bimbo described her Nollywood journey as nothing short of a blessing. She credited her breakthrough to meeting Uduak Isong, a producer and screenwriter, who played a pivotal role in her career.

“Meeting Uduak-Isong was one of the greatest blessings God gave me. I didn’t experience sexual harassment or demands for money in exchange for roles. Instead, she took me under her wing and allowed me to showcase my potential,” she recalled.

As someone who is deeply interested in the growth of Nollywood, The Fame and Fury star actress expressed her excitement about the industry’s progress.

“I’m impressed by the quality of content coming out of Nollywood. Platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube are showcasing our stories. The cinematography, storytelling, and acting have improved significantly,” she noted.
