Lagos Taskforce Fires 2 Officials Over Theft During Raid

The Lagos State Taskforce has sacked two of its personnel following their involvement in theft during a recent raid in the state.

It was gathered that the officials perpetrated the act while conducting a raid at a hotel known for harbouring drug users and traffickers which resulted in numerous arrests in the Gowon Estate area of the Iyana-Ipaja in Lagos.

Director, Press and Public Affairs, Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem disclosed this in a release to newsmen in Lagos.

Abdulraheem remarked that the culprits, Fatai Yusuf (42) and Hammed Garuba (38), were found guilty of stealing mobile phones from the scene of the raid.

He revealed that the integrity of the raid was compromised by the actions of two officials whose misconduct was captured on a closed-circuit television (CCTV).

“Both individuals, serving as paramilitary officers within the agency, were subjected to a meticulous investigation by the agency’s Disciplinary Committee.

“Upon confirmation of their guilt, they were summarily dismissed from service and will face immediate prosecution for theft,” Abdulraheem said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the taskforce, Adetayo Akerele, a Chief Superintendent of Police has strongly denounced their actions, reaffirming the agency’s unwavering commitment to integrity and accountability.

Similarly, he issued a stern warning to all personnel, emphasising that any breach of ethical conduct would attract severe consequences.

“The Lagos State Taskforce is guided by principles of discipline, equity, and justice. Any act that compromises the agency’s credibility or erodes public trust will be addressed decisively and without hesitation,” he declared.
