Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo state, has appointed Gani Audu, a former member of the Edo state house of assembly, as his chief of staff.
A statement on Friday issued by Fred Itua, Okpebholo’s spokesperson, said the appointment takes immediate effect.
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly the good people of Edo State, that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo state, has approved the appointment of Hon. Gani Audu as his chief of staff. The appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement reads.
Prior to this appointment, Audu was the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2020.
He was elected member of the Edo house of assembly representing Etsako west constituency 1 in 2015. He served as chair of Etsako west LGA from 2004 to 2010.
On November 12, Okpebholo nominated Cyril, son of Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo state, now a serving senator, as the commissioner of health.
