The Arewa Renaissance Group has petitioned the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) over Musiliu “MC” Oluomo’s alleged defiance of a court ruling following his election as President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The petition describes the election of Oluomo as a direct affront to the judiciary in a statement issued by the group’s head of investigation, Haliru Nadabo.
This comes after an Appeal Court upheld an earlier verdict by the Industrial Court of Nigeria, affirming Prince Ibikunle’s status as the union’s legitimate President.
Despite the legal ruling, a faction loyal to Oluomo conducted a controversial election in Abuja, where he was declared President.
The Arewa Renaissance Group has expressed concern that this blatant disregard for judicial authority threatens the integrity of the country’s legal system.
The group is urging the CJN to intervene, warning that failing to act could undermine the authority of judicial verdicts.
The group also calls on the Federal Attorney General and Minister of Justice to investigate the matter and ensure the parties involved are held accountable.
As a pressure group, the Arewa Renaissance Group insists that such actions must be checked to preserve the rule of law in the country.
