Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Tuesday, stated that it has arrested one Omolara Solanke, 46, who was accused of defrauding a political office seeker of N2,680,000.
This was made known by Daniel Adigun, the spokesperson of Osun NSCDC, who noted that Solanke had pledged to help a 48 years old politician, Razaq Salami, to win the election to the post of a councilor.
He explained that the Solanke had lured the victim to a town in Ekiti State alongside five others, where they obtained the money from him and then fled.
“After several failed attempts to get in touch with the fraudsters, Rasaq lodged a complaint with the anti-fraud unit of the corps in Ekiti State, where investigation into the alleged crime began. The anti-fraud unit of NSCDC, Osun command, was contacted to track the suspects.
“In the process, Omolara Solanke was apprehended. The NSCDC boss in Osun State, Commandant, Emmanuel Ocheja, through the anti-fraud unit, handed over the suspect to the Ekiti command of the corps for further investigation and possible prosecution,” the statement added.
