A divorcee, a mother of two named Basirat Ismail, raised alarm after the father, Kazeem Olapade allegedly raped his daughter (name withheld).
A statement by the press officer of the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs, Bolarinwa Adereti, revealed that a Non-Governmental Organisation, Monsurat Foundation reported the case of incest to the Ministry Commissioner, Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo.
“The Mother of the victim, Bashirat Ismail was married to Kazeem Olapade in 2006 and bore two children for him before they got separated in 2009. The mother abandoned the children to the care of thier father since then.
He noted that the two girls have been living with the father and during the lockdown introduced by the government to curb the spread of the deadly virus of COVID-19, the father defiled the eldest daughter (14-year-old).
“The mother claimed she got to know that the father was having sexual intercourse with the minor through her younger sister.
“The ministry reported the matter to the command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osogbo before it later reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Osun Police Command for diligent prosecution.
The Commissioner warned that the State will not condone rapist in the state as they shall be made to face the wrath of the law.
